What This Means
If the dead are unconscious, who answers the medium? If the dead cannot return, who appears as departed loved ones?
Scripture's answer: "For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles" (Revelation 16:14). Demons impersonate the dead to deceive the living.
The doctrine of the immortal soul ("ye shall not surely die") was the serpent's first lie (Genesis 3:4). It opens the door to spiritualism.
The Real Hope
Death is not the end, but our hope is resurrection, not disembodied existence.
Jesus called death "sleep" (John 11:11-14). The dead rest until He returns.
"The dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air."
